 - Gimnasio Fontana

The School Environmental Project (PRAE) incorporates environmental issues affecting the planet into the school context.   It involves 42 students and 6 teachers in charge of proposing, designing and implementing actions and campaigns for the benefit of the environment and which offer tangible high-impact results inside and outside the school. Moreover, the project promotes a sense of belonging to the world, as it portrays human beings as citizens of this world whose top responsibility is to see to the protection and adequate use of natural resources.

This year, PRAE is supporting the Green Race initiative through the partnership between Gimnasio Fontana, the American Embassy and Fundación Natura intended to carry out a large reforestation project in the national territory.

Gimnasio Fontana is one of the official sponsors of the first Green Race in Colombia, which will take place on February 22nd.  The goal is to plant 30,000 trees with the help of 5,000 participants (6 trees per participant), in several areas of Colombia already affected by deforestation.  We are the only school involved in this important endeavor.

Being a part of this initiative is of the greatest relevance for our School Environmental and Social Responsibility Project (PRAE), which seeks to reach beyond the boundaries of the classroom. We are committed to planting 30,000 trees in an ecologic reserve in the vicinity of Guasca, in the outskirts of Bogotá. The school will have its own trail and the students will have an opportunity to make a direct key contribution to the protection of the environment.

We have already planted 100 trees in our school!

Manifiesto Ambiental
